It is done! After 9 months of size 1 needles and intricate details, I have finished Anne Shirley! Isn’t she pretty.
I used Rowan Rowanspun (which I got for Secret Pal 9 a few years ago). A bit of it had already been used for the hearts, but the yarn was perfect for the pattern.
I made only one very obvious change. You can see the original to compare. Anyway, the change I made was the color pattern. Instead of changing every chunk of the pattern I used up the yarn in one color and moved on to the next.
I did have a few hiccups. They typically happened anytime I tried to knit the pattern in public. This is not an easy pattern. Most detailed patterns always have a nice purl row on the wrong side. This was just more pattern detail over and over. Since the yarn was so thin and the needles so small (size 1 people… SIZE 1!) it required some concentration. I would often skip rows if I forgot to move my stitch marker forward because I was chatting. I routinely had too many stitches or not enough stitches on a row, but this pattern is very forgiving about those problems. I cannot see where that happened.
All in all I am so glad I am done with this project and I am keeping this scarf forever. Its the most intricate and longest project I have ever done. I suspect I may never try it again.
